Jawahar (Jawhar) is the only hill station in Palghar district also known as Mahabaleshwar of Palghar district. Jawahar is a city and also one of the municipal council in Palghar district. Jawahar hill station is situated at an altitude of 518 meter above sea level in the Konkan region of Maharashtra state. Jawahar hill station is well connected by road to major cities of Maharashtra. Nearest airport for the Jawahar hill station is Nashik which is at 80 kms distance. Jawahar hill station is least known hill station in near Mumbai as compare to Lonavla and Khandala. But it is an excellent getaway from Mumbai and it is perfect escape from the busy life of city. Jawahar is princely ruled hill station during the British rule but it is one of the few tribal kingdoms in Maharashtra. Jawahar is famous and popular for its Warli paintings and its vibrant cultural heritage. Warli paintings traditionally made from rice paste, mud and charcoal. Nowadays Warli paintings can also be painted on canvas and papers so tourist can buy paintings from Jawahar for gifting someone or as a memory.

    Jawahar hill station can be visited throughout the year but if you want to explore the enchanted beauty of nature then you must visit in the rainy season from June to September. Its really look most beautiful during Monsoon. You can see full fledged water flowing through waterfalls in the Monsoon. Peak summer season of Jawahar remains some hot in April and May.

  • Temperature: In summer temperature of Jawahar lies between  28c to 33c. While in winter season it goes down up to between 20c to 28c.

  • Altitude: 518 meters above sea level.

Jai Vilas Palace, Jawahar
  • Jai Vilas Palace (Raj Bari): Jai Vilas Palace is a prime attraction in Jawahar. It is also known as Raj Bari. The beautiful Jai Vilas Palace was built by Raja Yashwant Rao Mukane. The Palace was the residential place for Mukane family's kings. The palace was built by pink colored syenite stone. The stones for this palace brought from the Kalidhond quarry which is 5 kms away from this palace. There is a garden around this palace and cashew nuts (Kaju) trees planted in it.

  • Dabosa Waterfall : Dabosa waterfall is one of the highest waterfalls in the state of Maharashtra. This waterfall is on the Lendi river situated at the distance of 18 kms from the main bus stand of Jawahar on Jawhar - Silvassa road. Both the sides of the waterfall is surrounded by small mountains and covered with forest. Dabosa waterfall is one of the prime attractions in Jawahar. In monsoon season Dabosa waterfall looks so beautiful with covered with greenery. 
  • Dadar Kopara Waterfall: Dadar Kopara waterfall situated at the opposite direction of the Dabosa waterfall. Dadar Kopara waterfall is situated on the Sarsun. If you are visiting Dabosa waterfall then it is sugested also visit Dadar Kopara waterfall for its scenic beauty. Its also named as Sukafall (Dryfall), in summer water of the waterfall goes to dry. 
  • Kal Mandavi (Kalmandi) Waterfall: Kalmandavi waterfall is situated at Apatale gaon at the distance of 5 kms from Jawahar on the Jawahar - Zap road. Kalmandavi is the only waterfall in the region which flows throughout the year. The height of the Kal Mandavi waterfall is about 100 meters. If you want to explore the most scenic beauty of the of the Kalmandavi waterfall then must visit it during the monsoons.  
  • Shirpa Mal: Shirpa mal is one of the historical place in Maharashtra. Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj the emperor of Maratha Kingdom have stayed here for a night towards the journey of Surat. The king of Jawahar kingdom warmly welcomed Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj. 
  • Khad Khad Dam: Khad Khad Dam is one of the major dam in Jawahar region. It is situated at a distance of 11 kms from the main bus stand of Jawahar. Excess water of this flows through the huge rock ahead of the dam which can be seen as small waterfall. Its most beautiful place for nature lovers and one can relax here or can enjoy the picnic. 
  • Bhupat Gad Fort: Bhupat Gad fort is one of the lesser known fort in Maharashtra. It is situated about  30 kms from the main bus stand of the Jawahar. Bhupat Gad fort is surrounded by thick forest and it is in situated on the single large plateau. The fort have two doors one in north and second one is in south, Overall fort is in bad condition now. But it is heaven for adventure lovers and trekkers. One can explore the beauty of the surroundings and valleys by reaching at the top. Trimbakeshwar and Jawhar can be seen from the top of the Bhupat gad fort. 
  • View Points in Jawahar: There are two main viewpoints in Jawahar named as Hanuman point and Sunset point. If you want to explore the beauty of nature and valleys then  you must visit both the viewpoints in Jawahar.
    Hanuman Viewpoint, Jawahar
           Hanuman Point: Hanuman point is known as after the temple of lord Hanuman. This      viewpoint is situated at east side of the Jawahar city. Hanuman point is surrounded by valleys from three side and covered by thick forest. You can explore here beauty of the nature.
           Sunset Point: As its name suggest us a point where tourist can see beauty when the Sun is  going down and hiding in the valleys. This point is most visiting place in the Jawahar by tourists and locals. It is situated in the west part of the city with few hundreds meters.

  • Trimbakeshwar: At distance of 49 kms from Jawahar its a pilgrimage place.
  • Igatpuri: Its a small hill station and place for adventures lovers where one can do trekking, roping and mountain biking etc. 
  • Silvassa: Silvassa is known for its beautiful gardens, Warli paintings, Lakes and wildlife park. Its about 115 kms distance from Jawahar.

One can buy from Jawahar is traditional Warli Paintings made on canvas or papers. You can also buy Bamboo vessels, handcraft and articles made out of waste paper.
